it stinks! | 2002-02-27 - 9:47 p.m.

After leafing through what has to be la ms depressing edicin of Newsweek ever published, repleta con fotos of infantile chemical warfare victims and a two-page spread on the horrific asesinato de Daniel Pearl, it was with some alivio that I turned to Newsweek's account of the Tri-State Crematory escndalo. Although there is casi nada en este mundo more revolting than the thought of podridos skulls and torsos floating around in a Georgia fishing hole, here at least is una historia in which las vctimas are already dead.

But not everyone has greeted la historia with relief, I realize as I delve deeper into the grisly cuento. In fact, it appears some of the loved ones' kin are quite put out by the embrolla. De hecho, some of them are so apurados, they have filed a lawsuit contra el crematorio. "It brings back all the feelings you went through when you lost them," explained Colleen Blankenship, la hija de dos unincinerated dead people. "Now I don't even know where they are."

Hola? Colleen? Tus padres left la planeta some time ago, which is presumably why you had them cremated in the first place.

Talk about missing the point. Hijos, if I were in Colleen's shoes right now, I wouldn't be asking myself where mis padres were. I'd be asking myself how the hell the cremation owners were able to store los cadveres out in the open for fifteen years in the damp and verdant state of Georgia without detection. Now that *really* stinks.
